With Father’s Day right around the corner, we’ve asked the dads at Purebaby to share the best advice and tips for all the new dads out there.

Take your time and enjoy every minute because time passes too fast.

They won’t always want to be around you. Take advantage of those moments when they do and build a real connection. It will last forever and hopefully save you lots of trouble during the teenage years.

Lead by example and walk the walk. And don’t underestimate the intelligence of your children.

Make sure you make time for you and your partner. You are both just as important.

Reactions to finding out you are going to be a parent can range from delight to a little worry and of course sheer happiness.  We asked the fathers at Purebaby to share their reactions on receiving the wonderful news.

I felt a combination of happiness, excitement and apprehension.

Nervousness, elation and a little bit of fear.

The first few weeks will always be the hardest. You and your partner are adjusting to becoming parents and all the new adventures that come with it.

Don’t make any plans and forget that YOU exist as it is all about the baby. You are as much responsible as your partner is. Take an active role, you will treasure it forever

Celebrating new milestones, laughter, tears and special memories all seem to happen in a blink of an eye. It can be hard to pinpoint what is the best thing about being a dad, besides the overwhelming love for you child.

Seeing your child/children grow every day

How they develop through the different stages of their lives

The feeling of pride when you see them achieve a new milestone

And of course, it wouldn’t be Father’s Day without sharing the best ‘dad joke’.

I use to say to my youngest daughter during her teenage years whenever I walked into her terribly messy room... “Are you ok babe? I’m glad you weren’t in the room when the bomb hit” her reply was always “you’re not funny dad.” She smiled whenever I tell the story now.

From us at Purebaby to all the dads out there, we would like to wish you all a very Happy Father’s Day and hope your day is filled with love, laughter and special moments.
